BALDAU JI TEMPLE IN PANNA
The very famous Baldau Ji temple is located 45 km from Khajuraho in Panna district. This temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna’s elder brother Shri Baldau Ji and a grand statue of Baldau Ji is installed here which is made of Shaligram stone. This temple is different from all other temples located here, the design of this temple is in Roman Catholic style which looks like a church from a distance. There are tall pillars in this temple complex and its pavilion is very high, whose grandeur is worth seeing. There are big chandeliers in the temple complex which look very beautiful. The construction work of this temple was started in 1933 by Maharaj Shri Rudra Pratap Singh, which was completed in 1936, the map of Baldev Ji temple was made by Italian engineer Mr. Metley, who was the state engineer of Maharaj Rudra Pratap Singh at that time. Baldev Ji temple is a combination of Indian and foreign styles. The structure of this temple looks like St. Paul’s Church of London from outside. This temple was built by the king to protect the farmers of his state and in their honor. The grand statue of Shri Baldau Ji made of Shaligram stone situated in this temple was brought from Vrindavan by Maharaja Rudra Pratap Singh and installed in the temple. The most special thing about this temple is that almost everything here is 16 in number, such as the number of Stairs on the upper platform of the temple is 16, there are also 16 Windows, 16 Domes, 16 Pavilions and 16 Pillars, which makes it different and unique from all other temples and this temple has been included in the archaeological heritage of the state. There are many shops of Bhog Prasad outside the temple from where people buy Prasad and offer it to God.
