BUNDELI TRIBAL VILLAGE

Madhya Pradesh, India has 43 recognized Scheduled Tribes, three of which are identified as “Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups”. The Scheduled Tribe population is 21.1 percent of the state’s population. Gond, Bhil, Kol, Korku, Saharia, Baiga tribes live here. The tribes of the state have diversity which comes from differences in genetics, lifestyle, cultural traditions, social structure, economic structure, religious beliefs and language and speech. Their lifestyle is deeply rooted in Hinduism and mythology. Experiencing tribal communities and their cultures creates a completely different approach to tourism. If you want to visit unknown, undiscovered and untouched places, then visit the tribal areas of Bundelkhand. The villages we visit through our Tribal Village Tours are mainly inhabited by Gond tribes. A group of Gond houses is called ‘Phalya’. They mainly celebrate their local festivals like Gal, Bhagoria, Nabai, Chalavani, Jatra and also celebrate all Hindu festivals like Holi, Rakshabandhan and Diwali etc. The Gond tribe is of Dravidian origin. They celebrate their culture through artistic expressions of dance and music. The tribe sees music as a medicine that has magical healing powers that ward off social evils like diseases and famine. Men wear turbans, kurtas, dhotis and women wear Saris, Cholis and Ghagras. They also drink alcohol known as Taddy. Their main dances are Bhagoria, Doha, Badwa, Dhoomar and they are adept at playing the flute. The tribal people live in villages and still manage to live a simple life with limited facilities. We can still see that many villages have no source of water and tribal women walk four kilometers every day to fetch water for their families. These villages have no paved roads and in some places there is no electricity. The clits travelling through us can also visit those villages with doing our “Tribal Village Tour” and meets the Local Tribal of Bundelkhand.
